Elizabeth Hellman
About Elizabeth Hellman
Address and work: UK
Artist Introduction
Elizabeth Hellman was born in Brighton, England in 1972. She studied art at Brighton University and the London Guildhall University before deciding to specialize in fine art.

Since then she has been a regular exhibitor at the 'Open House' exhibitions at the Brighton Arts Festival.

Elizabeth has always been inspired by the natural world and flowers in particular, and so decided to concentrate on flowers for the subject of her paintings. She delights in capturing the fragility and delicacy of these blooms combined with their strength and vivacity. In a painstaking process Elizabeth uses oil paints to provide a rich quality of colour, building up the pigment so that one painting may have as many as five or six layers on it. This process is very time consuming and she may spend around 100 hours working on each painting over a period of three or four months.

When not painting Elizabeth enjoys spending time working in the garden and walking in the countryside.
