Bert Myers is a retired academic physician (Professor of Surgery at LSUMC) who has long had a serious interest in photography as an art medium. Beginning in 1951, he worked with Eugene Delcroix, a N.O. photographer who was a master of light and composition, and who specialized in soft focus images. In 1971, he studied with Ansel Adams in California at one of the last courses the artist himself taught. He has also been a pupil of Michael A. Smith of Ottsville, Pennsylvania-a master of large format photography-who in 1986 photographed New Orleans for the Historic collection.
In 1999 he participated in a Santa Fe workshop on digital photography.
